So, I really wanted to make a post on the vanity tray I made a few weeks back because I love it so much. I was tired of those store bought vanity trays with the mirror bottoms or the weird faux gold trim. I wanted something that screamed vintage and would match the bedroom theme I've been aiming for.
I previously found similar vanity trays with picture frames on Etsy (the home of the web's most creative gifts, art and treasured finds), but sellers were charging this same tray concept for $30 or more. I knew I could just as easily make my own, so I did.
Below you'll see a photo of the items you'll need for this project, which are:
- an 8x10 size picture frame (or larger)
- I got mine at Hobby Lobby where frames are always half off. They have a huge selection, so I was able to find one with the vintage, Victorian feel I was going for.
2. a sheet of scrapbook paper of your choice
- I also bought the scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby for less than $1. This is a cool project also because anytime you change up your room, all you have to do is switch out the scrapbook sheet.
Now, my scrapbook sheet was larger than the 8x10 frame size, so I chose to just fold it to fit. You could also measure and cut the sheet. But I chose to fold it because I've found that the thicker the photo or sheet inside a frame, the less likely it is to move around behind the glass. By folding it, I gave it a little thicker of a stock to help it stay in place.
I really like how it turned out. It's super simple, but looks so classy chic.
Have any of you made any cool vanity trays or bedroomed themed projects?
xx
