MUFE Mat Velvet + Foundation

One of the biggest problems I have with my skin is it's oil-slick tendencies despite using oil free foundations, oil reducing moisturizers and primers, Ben Nye setting powderSkindinavia Oil Control Makeup Finishing Spray, and two blotting papers per day at my desk during work (I prefer the Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets found at Walmart, Target, and all drugstores for about $5). I come prepared, but I am always looking for better alternatives, for other options to curb the greasy mess that pools around my t-zone.

Nothing thus far has given me miraculous results, so I can't vouch for any one particular product. And up until now, I hadn't been very interested in investing tons of money into a foundation. Actually, foundation was the one beauty product that I hadn't ever cared much about spending a lot on. The Mat Velvet + is the most expensive one I've bought to date, with a retail value of $36.

I had wanted to try this Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + foundation for a while, so I jumped in and bought it when Sephora sent me the $20 VIB gift card for the holidays.

Since I currently live in the middle of nowhere, I do not have a Sephora nearby, so I ordered the foundation online and was very happy that I picked a near perfect match for my currently alabaster-esque skin tone.

The formula itself is much dryer than my usual go-to foundation, which is Revlon Colorstay in "Sand Beige." It is very concentrated, so even though the tube it is in seems small, you use less product with this than I usually need with the Colorstay. The liquid blends well into skin and leaves a very mattified, dry (non-oily) finish, but does dry pretty quickly so it's best to work fast with it.

The packaging is also very nice. The container is plastic, which makes it handy and more economical in terms of travelling and throwing it in your makeup bag or drawer at home.

-t's easy to get the right amount out of the plastic tube with the squeeze-and-squirt design. A lot of times with the standard foundation packaging, I find that I dump too much out on the back of my hand.

The color that I chose for myself was 30, which I believe is called "Porcelain." With my "No Tan" policy in place, my skin is pretty fair right now, so this ended up being a perfect match for me by the time the liquid oxidized. Below I have provided you with some swatches on my hand to show the color on my skin, and to show you how concentrated the formula it is.

It also dries very quickly, which I believe I previously mentioned. It blended so well into my skin for the last photo that you can see just how natural it looks while also being full coverage (for me, at least). It's a very build-able formula, which is something most of us look for in a good foundation.

Overall, I am loving this foundation so far. I'd like to experiment with some more high-end formula foundations before I give this foundation a letter grade, but I am very happy with it as of now.

My next stop on the quest for high-end oil reduction foundations is to purchase both the Nars Sheer Matte Foundation and the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation.

Have any of you tried this MUFE foundation or any others that you absolutely LOVE? I'd love to hear what you all think!

xx
