Reverting back to childhood this winter..

As I am sure many American's who grew up in the nineties will recall, L.L. Bean took the backpack/lunchbox scene and made it their own. I'd say about 7 out of 10 kids could be seen sporting one of their signature backpacks with either name/monogram and the standard L.L. Bean insignia.

I was one of those kids, which is why I remember that time period so clearly. I don't even like the color purple now, but I still have that book bag somewhere at my house. It was deep purple with my monogram "<WJD>" embroidered on it. I do agree that it was one of the most durable, spacious, and comfortable backpacks I've had to date.

L.L. Bean knows their stuff.

...which brings me to the heart of my next post..L.L. Bean boots! It would seem that while L.L. Bean's presence dominated a major part of my youth, that the company will also partially dominate my twenties.

You're probably wondering what the heck I'm talking about. Ever since last winter, I've wanted a pair of the ever-famous L.L. Bean boots. Before I really saw them around, I saw a plus size fashionista on Instagram sporting a pair with boot cuffs and fell in love.

Now, some months later, I was finally able to snag me a pair, but only after noticing that the L.L. Bean fashion trend is catching yet again. I've seen quite a few people sporting the boots around, so obviously the fashion forward IG'er was onto something last winter.

I haven't worn them an abundance yet seeing as I just got them in yesterday, but I am absolutely SMITTEN.

They are comfortable, seem durable, have soft leather, and the shearling inside them is cozy. Now, I did buy the shearling pair, but they do sell a pair with a thinsulate lining and ones that aren't lined, which I guess could be used more for rainy days instead of snow.

I was planning on buying the thinsulate because they were $139 on the L.L. Bean site rather than the $199 I paid for the shearling pair, but they were back-ordered until mid-March. Having wanted a pair for nearly a year, I was not going to wait until March to get my boots, so I opted to pay more for the shearling lined ones.

The shoe strings are tough and seem like they will withstand snow and other harsher weather climates, so that was also a plus. Also, I have wide feet, so I was very happy that the company offered Narrow, Medium, and Wide selections in their boots. I have large feet, so I got a 10W.

The only negative I've found is that the shoes (which I purchased at my regular size) are slightly big and it seems like I have about an inch of toe space. They don't flop around on my feet once I've tied them up well, but they are very spacious. I plan to buy some thicker socks to wear with them to better accommodate the size since I don't think a 9W would work for me. If you have slightly smaller or narrower feet, just be aware of the sizing!

Aside from the size, I LOVE  them and will give them an A. I love the textures, the quality, the comfort level, and the look of them. I also like that these can be dressed down or paired with a dress. So an A for versatility as well!

Until next time..

xx
